The Laundry in the Square
A social sculpture unfolding through fabric, bodies, and place
Pink Silence Mazan is rooted in a specific place and context. Developed in close dialogue with citizens and the municipality of Mazan, the project responds to a broader public debate around domestic violence and the urgent need to move the issue from private space into collective awareness.
Domestic violence is often confined to the home and treated as a private matter. The sheet, a symbol of intimacy, rest, and domestic life, becomes the central artistic medium. The expression “washing our dirty laundry at home” reflects a social mechanism that keeps violence invisible.
Pink Silence reverses this logic
Through four participatory workshops, local participants create 365 dyed and embroidered sheets, each representing one day of the year. The women involved become the voices of testimonies entrusted to us through our online platform. In this way, Mazan is not framed as a site of violence, but as a community choosing to stand in solidarity with a global issue.
Our Vision
Autumn in Mazan
In collaboration with the local dance school Danse Mouvance, the project extends into movement. A site specific performance unfolds through Mazan, weaving bodies and fabric into public space. What was once hidden inside the home becomes visible in the village landscape.
What Was Kept Inside
A social sculpture unfolding through fabric, bodies, and place
The 365 sheets form a large scale public installation, transforming the village into a shared space of recognition, solidarity, and collective awareness. Pink Silence Mazan connects schools, cultural actors, and citizens through a process unfolding in four phases: local integration, workshops, public installation, and long term engagement. The result is both a strong artistic statement and a civic gesture, turning private pain into public presence and redefining public space as a place of shared responsibility and visibility.

Call for Action
Pink Silence needs strong partners
Pink Silence is real. It will happen on the ground, with women, in public space. To make it possible, we need the right partners now. We are seeking institutions, foundations, municipalities, and committed sponsors who are ready to invest in a project that transforms silence into visible public dialogue. We want partners who do not look away, and who believe that art can move a topic from the private sphere into shared responsibility
