Between Nature and Circuit

Young designers exploring patterns, materials, and future paths

In 2011, Bogna Grazyna Jaroslawski partnered with the Auroville Institute of Applied Technology (AIAT) to initiate the «Culture in Performance» project in Auroville, India. Like previous collaborations in diverse cultural contexts, Jaroslawski aimed to bring out the creative abilities of individuals, this time focusing on the student community.
She facilitated design workshops where students were challenged to create objects or sculptures using natural materials, as well as those familiar from their studies like computer chips and harddrives. Their task was to identify patterns and structures in nature and integrate them into their creations.

The Process of Social Sculpture

These workshops have been developed with a group of 20 college-level boys participating, creating a variety of designs. This project encouraged self-reflection and awareness about their career aspirations. The project concluded with a communal meal, symbolizing collective accomplishment.
